OrchidWiz says it's formerly Brassolaelia Bl. now known as Brassosophronitis Bnts. Sounds like BS to me! So your tag is correct. Very pretty flower!

Terri, you are too funny!!! That comment cracked me up - it is BS!!! Now I have to go change the entry in my list! hehe

Thanks for the info, tho, I really appreciate it. At the risk of sounding dumb, what is orchidwiz? Sounds interesting...

This is for Jkelee and everyone else who "loves her and wants her"

Cattleyas 23
The two pics at the bottom of the page are of sunset glory. These pics are very true to what mine looks like - the coolest feature about this guy is that when the flowers first open, they are the dark pink in the last picture, then they gradually fade to white like in the first picture, and then a couple days before the flowers fall off the white has an orangish cast to it (can you see why they call it sunset glory?).

That first link is an e-bay vendor - here is a company you can buy directly from:
Aloha Orchid Nursery - Detail

This is really one of my fav. orchids - doesn't have much of a rest period, every new growth has spikes so it's almost always in bloom, AND to me, it smells like Fruit Loops! Go figure!

Oh yeah! I'm such a comedian. Perhaps I missed my calling in life! LOL Think it's too late to change careers at 54?

Ethan I think that color fade thing must be an attribute of many Richard Mueller crosses. Your plant is Brassophronitis Richard Mueller x Sophronitis purpurata. I have Rolf. Hoku Gem 'Freckles which is Sophrocattleya Tangerine Jewel x Brassophronitis Richard Mueller, and it starts out brick red and ends up bright yellow.

OrchidWiz is an awesome computer program. OB members get a discount. It is a comprehensive database with all registered hybrids and species. It has pictures, awards, parentage, species geneology, and most importantly cultural information. The old names are cross referenced with the new names, so you can always find what you're looking for even if it has an old name tag. It's awesome. I've opened it every day since I installed it and looked up at least one thing. Did I say it was awesome?

Here's the info on the OrchidWiz promo Ethan. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...promotion.html

I wouldn't change any tags just yet. A taxonomists work is never done! After a few more name changes you won't be able to read the tag anymore....it'll be too scribbled out!
