When you have time, you should post a list of the orchids you have in your profile. I found it to be a good exercise because it allowed me to get a firmer grip on what I have in my collection and it kind of forced me to go take a closer look at the tags on my hybrids. Plus, it's fun to share. I'd also like to see any good pics of your 'chids.
BTW, there's someone on here who has a Maxillaria tenuifolia that knocked my socks off. It's specimen sized at what looks to be about a foot and a half or more high and just crazy dense with foliage and flowers. I can almost smell the coconut aroma from here. Check it out. I hope mine looks half that good in a few years.
Peace

P.S. Where exactly in the Bay Area are you? Also, are you a member of the San Francisco Orchid Society? If not which one(s)?

I'll have to post a list of my orchids and some pics when i get a chance. I've posted some pics of my Neofinetias and my Sedirea japonica on here before, but haven't been keeping up with the pics.

Max. tenuifolia was my first Max. and it flowered pretty well this past year. Unfortunately, it spent too much time in the sun (because of owner negligence) and is sunburned like heck. I hope I can save it. Max. tenuifolia is a great easy to take care of plant. I've had mine outside year round since I got it, and it's always done well for me. I've seen pics of sepcimen size plants and they are huge, not to mention the number of flowers on them!!!!!

I'm not part of the SFOS, but I do know a lot of people that attend their meetings. I am part of the OSC (Orchid Society of California) that meets in Oakland, since it's closer and I can't always make it out to SF for their meetings. I'm in the East Bay by Oakland, so the OSC works out for me becuase I can hop over there right after work for meetings.

RE: Max. tenuifolia, I brought mine in for the winter but just put him back outside. Good to know I can add it permanently to my outdoor group. I'm planning to build a covered section for my back deck using those 4x8 lattice-work panels very soon. Probably in the next week or two. That's the side of the house that gets the morning sun (and more during summer). It will immediately be populated by a bunch of orchids and I can't wait to see the way they respond.
I'm going to do a quick search and see if there aren't any societies that meet down here in my area. Maybe Monterey or something.
