Default transparent spot

OK, Since I've updated I have a question.

I have a lovely deep purple moth phal with many big blooms. It has been inside without any direct sun but it gets light from big sliding glass doors.

I've just noticed a light/transparent spot on one of the leaves. I've had it since Jan' 2009. It has 6 leafs but one large one has that spot. My camera is charging or I'd get you a photo.

So in the meantime an educated guess would be helpful in stopping what is happening.

Thanks
Peter

I would guess it to be an infection of some sort, and in those cases, I heat a large nail with a blow torch, and starting in the middle, cauterize the wound until all of the affected tissue has been burned away.

It leaves a hole in the leaf, but its perimeter will be sealed and infection-free.

Most of the time, if I don't do that, the whole leqaf gets infected.

Thanks Ray, I thought my battery was charging but it wasn't. So I did what you said. I'm still not sure if you were pulling my leg (without checking), but it's done.

I went and checked the spot after reading your post and it seemed to be bigger. A lot bigger.
So I heated up a butchers stone (sharpening) now I have a 1/2 inch hole in the leaf.

I'll keep an eye on it, and post a couple of photo's.

Thanks.

No joke. It doesn't make the leaves the prettiest things, but it can (not I didn't say "does") save the leaf.

Here we go, as promised. The Phal is in a plastic pot in a ceramic pot. T
The light on the leaf is from an overhead light.
But the "hole" is there.
If it goes bad Ray, I'll add another photo.
