I really don't know where to put this so if it needs to be moved do so. I want to give a orchid to a friend in canada, what is the red tape involved in doing so.

I remember some old threads about this subject. I'll look them up. But if I remember right, there is no problem to drive the orchids over the border. Mailing them is another matter!

I do not think it is quite as easy as the links make it out to be. As far as I know the reciever of the orchid in Canada must still have import documents. And the chid would also have to come with a Phyto Sanitary Cert to ensure there are no pests or diseases. But it could have changed, maybe there is another Canadian on the board who has transported some chids over the border recently who can advise a little more clearly.

I looked into it last year. It wasn't worth the trouble for me.

The COC has 2 or 3 pages on the ins and outs of plants coming into Canada. (Canadian Orchid Congress).

Good luck and if you need my address
