bud blast problem and ? new flowering stem

I bought two NOID phals 2 weeks ago and all seemed to be doing well the white ones buds opened over a few days and seems to be quite happy. The problem is the yellow/pink phal the buds are drying up and look like theyre going to fall off. I am guessing this is bud blast. What am I doing wrong both are kept at approximately 60f at night up to 68-74f day time, humidity I am struggling to get over 44% unless I am cooking and have the tumble dryer on. Though both the plants are kept in same conditions. I put Hydrolecxa in the tray theyre sat in yesterday with a bit of water but still the humidity hasnt increased noticebably.

The other picture is of the flowering stem of the white phal this little shoot? has not grown any since i got it and was wondering what it was and if it will do anything.

The buds do look like they are going to drop to me.

I had a similar thing last year. I bought two Phals and one was fine while the other had bud blast a couple of weeks later.

I think sometimes one Phal will react to the change in enviroment/temperatures/humidity etc, while another will be fine with the same changes. Or maybe one of them was in different conditions to the other until just before you bought them.

Hopefully it will be like mine in another way... less than a year later both plants gave me a loverly new show of flowers from new spikes and both have grown healthily.

Of course it could also be a sign of root problems. If it is in a clear pot take a look at if the roots seem healthy. In my case they did so I left it. If you can't see them or are not sure you may want to repot and take a good look while you do.

Thank you Rosie, I forgot to say I had to report the yellow/pink phal as it wouldn't stay in its pot and the roots were surprisingly healthy, They had looked a little yellow and brown in the pot but when i got it out and looked and felt them they were all viable so i carefully repotted it into soaked bark. the buds had started to shrivel before I repotted. I will just have to have a little patience and wait for it to re-bloom for me. Thank you so much for your help.

If the roots are looking good then I would say just be patient with it. Bud Blast is quite common with new Phals when they are moved from the enviroment in the nursary/shop to your home, and as I said above it can affect one more than another.

I agree with everything Rosie said. Also, from what I've seen on my phals, some seem more prone to blasting than others. I have one phal that will blast at least 2-3 buds at each blooming, even though it is growing with all the other phals, which never blast!

Thank you both, thats great I will just bide my time and see how it does with the next flowering, Just glad to know I am not doing anything drastically wrong that has caused this to happen.
