That looks like the sheath where the flower spike will eventually emerge from. Good luck!

Yup! You've got a spike. Once we see a picture of the flower it will be easy to identify [I think!]. Looking at the pseudobulbs it probably is Anacheilium cochleatum. This is one of the Encyclias that has been assigned to a new genus.

Ok, sa after 2 months it looks a bit different... The psb is bigger, and the spike is visible but it is growing sooooooo slowly! Sue, you were right!

I'm excited for you!! congrats on the spike! Hopefully it will grow a little bit faster now, because it must be hard to find the patience to wait any longer for the blooms!
