Well its pretty cold out now, so it should be ok for a while! But I guess I will just dump the mix in the garden in the spring . Too bad I have almost two FULL bags wasted lol.

Why dump it? It can be sterilized by baking it in the oven at a high enough temperature to kill anything that might be there.

Well its got quite a bit of that gross stuff in it. and If my plants are going to be potted in it for 1-2 years, Id rather just get fresh stuff. lol

do you have any pictures? The rice things could be maggots... the lentil like things could be larvae as well

I might take pictures tomorrow. But I doubt they are maggots. They actually look uncooked rice, and are slightly see- through.

Please take pictures, I'm intrigued now! lol

I honestly have no clue, and I'm a bug freak. But I can't think of anything aside from ant cocoons that resemble rice. And lentils or pea halves I'm at a complete loss for.
