Default Sphag and bag?

all, I have a Paph. Primlinum x Paph. Sanderianum 'Newberry' Which I bought about a year and a half ago. In the beginning it seemed to do good but a few months ago it stopped growing. I first chalked it up to the growing season. But I couldn't stop worring about it so I checked out the root system and found to my horror that the roots are brown and mushy. I then deceided to do the sphag and bag treatment. Today I gave it a good examination and noticed that 2 new roots are starting to form.My question is how long do I leave in the bag before repotting. And is there any proper method to putting it back in a pot? (Gradually, low light, high light ect.)

I'm no expert but here is what I would do, once it has a couple of inches worth of roots I would pot it in the usual manner keeping the baggie as a "tent" over the plant, slowly opening it farther and farther each day to "harden" off the orchid. At the same time move it closer and closer to its original light source to "harden" it towards the light. Six inches at a time just to be safe. I hope this helps you.

Thanks it does help! Its my first time with this process and I kinda thought that's what I should do.I did not think about the bag over the pot that make good sense.
Thanks again

When I use sphag- bag, I usually keep the plant in a pot with the spag loose around the roots. I find it the most effective method to get them back to good health.
