Default need help identifying this orchid



not sure what king it might be can anyone help me plz...i got it last week at the orchid show in louisiana but it just had a tag of the name of the nursery plz help

It appears to be some kind of Cattleya or some relation...other than that I'm clueless!!

Johanna:

I know you didn't ask and I hope I'm not overstepping my bounds here but...

Are you planning on repotting your cat? I ask because it looks to be potted awfully low in the mix and (at least for my growing conditions) that it has too much sphagnum for it to grow well. Most cats like to dry out a bit between waterings and that much sphagnum may keep it too wet...

I agree it is planted much too deep. You want the rhizome to be at the top of the media. Any new growth will be at the base of the newest pbulb.

Sphag is great for a catt IF you let it get very dry before watering it again.

actually it's been very dry i bought it at the orchid show there were a bunch of cutting for $10 and they weren't potted nore mounted i havent fully watered it i just mist it very little but thanks for the advise i'll remove all the moss i didn't have anywhere to put it in the mean time but i'm waiting on a shipment of the 5" net pot's the little black holey plastic cup's so i can use little moss.....thanks to you all for letting me know and helping me on what i'm doing wrong this is the way we learn thanks so much really........
