Jerry,

Although your Cymbidium is a lovely color, I do not believe it is Cym. Peter Pan. Peter Pan as registered, (ensifolium x Miretta), is a product of two green parents. I see little to no characteristics of the Peter Pan generally seen, which is a fuller green, fragrant and blooms very early in the fall. This may be a Peter Pan hybrid, but........ doubtful. It is possible it could be a remake but it would have to have been made with an intensly dark red Cym. ensifolium to get your color. I have not seen such a clone. The blooming in late winter suggests to me a Cym. sinense hybrid.

Enjoy it for what it is....a very pretty flower.

CL

You are not called Cymbidium Lady for nothing. I am certainly not going to disagree with you, knowing the history of this plant.

I purchased it from a small, local independent nursery about three years ago. The owner told me that it was a division of a plant that his father had for many years. His father received the plant as a gift and it is very likely that it could have been incorrectly named.

Thanks for the input because correct naming is very important to me.

Cym ladye is right, it's not Peter Pan. I just looked at pics of it on Orchidwiz, and it has greenish yellow blooms. But there are Peter Pan hybrids that have the same color as this one.

I think I will do as someone suggested on another thread about an unidentified Cattleya and give it a new tag that says: Looks like a Peter Pan hybrid which is a sort of compromise.
