Well at least you can now see the roots.

That one does not need watering just now... see how the roots look green and you can see drops of moisture on the plastic.

Once the roots look silver like the arial one it's time to water again, but with no drainage holes you need to be careful that you don't drown it.

If you are going to get new pots soon then this plant may well be fine with no watering until then, although it depends on your climate. Personally if I needed to water this plant again before re-potting I would try and carefully poke some holes in the plastic with something... but then you would need to be very careful not to damage the roots and it might be a bit risky.

Hi Friends,
Since joining this group in February I cut off the 10 inches of brown from the spike and took my time ordering new pots [which I have now]. The plant stays in the south window behind a lacy curtain, getting lots of light and some filtered sun. I've watered it weekly with a few drops of Miracle Grow per cup.
I was going to repot, as this thread suggested, when I noticed a shoot just below the trim point. I waited a few weeks and now that spike has shoots [see photo]. The main plant leaves are parallel to the window but the new spike is curving towards the window. Should I do a 180 degr. turn? Is it best to wait until this spike continues its growth and maybe flowering before repotting?

Well, congratulations on a new flower side spike! You are obviously doing fine on the cultivation techniques and your Phal likes it - well done. And now you'll discover what colour it is.

I think that repotting now would still be fine, I have repotted several phals at this stage, and even in flower. It may stall for a week or so while it adapts to bark mix instead of moss and you'll have to monitor watering with care, but you seem to have got the hang of that.

As for growing towards the light, try turning it - mine seem to like to grow parallel to the window, but they are in east and west facing windows. may be the attractive powers of midday sun are just that much more persuasive

Well done, Larry and what a gorgeous white it is - maybe it will be like mine and keep flowering on the one stem for months and months - I think I had twenty plus flowers in the end although not altogether.

Have you succumbed to the addiction and bought any others yet? We'd love to see them too!!!!
