Phal Dying! HELP!!!!
Question Phal Dying! HELP!!!!

Ok so I have a new phal that is dying. well i assume its a phal, its looks like it but the blooms are much smaller than I am used to.
anyway so I brought it home. watered it and puttting on my dining table. the next day the roots turned white. now some of them have shriveled, some of the not yet opened blooms have turned yellow, shriveled up and are clearly dead. also one of the leaves has turned yellow.

its kept on my dining table 20ish feet from my 20th floor apartment. we face south so lots of light, but i have some curtians half shading the window so there should not be much if any direct light. we have 35+% humidity, its a touch on the cooler side though cause im not into hot so much.

Its still in the origional container and potting... mix? its in a standard clear plastic pot then put into a decorative ceramic pot. there is a bit of water in the bottom of the ceramic pot, but not touching the plastic one. and its planted in orchid bark with no moss.

not sure whats wrong what i need to do. i plan on buying a proper orchid pot soon, i just have to find one and then have the money to pay for it!

Help! any ideas and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, it is a phal, and no, it's not dying. The roots are white because of the velamen, an outer coat that helps the roots retain moisture. Bud blast is when the buds die before opening, and this can be caused by a change in growth culture conditions-i.e. temperature. A proper orchid pot should have holes to allow for air circulation in the growing media; if the media and the roots stay wet for too long this can lead to rot. You choose the pot that is right for your orchid and your growing conditions. There is nothing wrong with the plastic pot that it's already in. I would take the plastic pot out and make sure you have mostly green roots.

You are losing a leaf - that can't be saved, but you have to make sure that water does not stand in the leaf crevices. Phals are particularly susceptible to rot when that happens. Blow the water out or get it out with a piece of tissue. You don't need another pot and unless the bark mix is broken down you are probably better off not repotting it at this point.
