a baby growing off a baby?
Default a baby growing off a baby?

I was just checking on my Den and noticed that there seems to be a new cane growing off a new cane, a baby growing from a baby. Will this stunt the growth of the 2nd youngest cane? It just started growing some roots, there's about 7 or 8 roots sprouting but I don't want the newest cane takng the nutrients from the 2nd youngest one while its growing

I've never seen it, but I would love to see a picture. I wouldn't worry about it though. I'd just let it grow

I think it is alright to leave keikis on small varieties of plants but if they are a large variety I would definitely remove them. A tall cane growing on the top of a tall cane growing on the top of a tall cane just doesn't work if you can visualize what I mean.

Yeah.. this is not a keiki. Its a new cane but its growing at the base of another new cane. From my understanding the newer canes will take food from the previous canes till it has roots of its own. This newest cane is growing off a cane that is just just starting to grow roots of its own (the roots are just green nubs)

the last mature cane grew to about 18" the 2nd youngest is about 4" right now and the newest growth is just a pointy green growth coming from the base of the 4"er. I noticed the 4" spike a few weeks ago and just noticed the spike coming from its base a few days ago

Now that I have the picture, I would leave it alone.
