This is why I'm scared of mail order orchids, or any other plant really. So many things could go wrong. Then again, I haven't had much experience. With my isolation I'm going to have to face my fears eventually to get anything besides BBS orchids.

Hope you have some other orchids blooming to console you for now.

I am sorry to see that, a heat pack is always a must from mid fall till spring. I would say don't trow it out, just stick it some place and just maybe it might make a come back.

there is an amazing place in Alberta Canada called paramount orchids, they ship to the states. They only ship from late spring- early fall so you don't end up with that problem. I have not ordered from them yet but I will when they start shipping. That place has been recommended to me by lots of people on here not only cause they have a wide selection and decent prices but also cause they have great plants. They posted on their site that they have permits to ship out of country to certain countries. Give em a try

Thee better dealers will not ship in colder weather or will give you the option of paying more for heat packs and priority shipping. Some of the Ebay sellers don't offer these options. Even if both dealer and buyer are in warmer parts of the country the orchids sometimes get shippid without protection through colder areas. I don't order anything during the winter or if I do ask them to hold it till spring.

Dang! Poor orchid! I really hope that you get a refund for that. That is precisely why I don't mail order orchids from Nov to March. I don't want any problems like that.

If you order from reputable vendors, there should be no reason for problems, especially if you order only during the warmer months. Sure, you don't actually see what you are buying before getting it, but like I said if you get it from a reputable vendor, bad surprises are very rare.

Default The question is: How Do You Think You Killed Your Orchid?

I've killed a few

probably by overwatering...but now I've gotten that bad habit under control and am hoping for the best

For some unknown reason, Paphs and Phrags don't like me so I think they were all cases of suicide and not my fault at all!

Who else has killed a chid...and how?
