I have a new dead one, too. When I finally unwrapped the shade house yesterday after the cold spell, I found a phal with crown rot. I never lost a phal to that before. I doubt the cold spell did that, but it looked ok last week. So, I guess it could have been sick for a while. I have been having a problem with black rot (which seems under control now). So it could have been a result of that. If so it is my first fatatlity due to fungus. It hadn't sent out a spike yet and most of the other phals have. Ashamed to say I just tossed it.

I haven't totally given up hope yet but my P. xintermedia was to close to a window the night it hit -30f (yeah, that MINUS 30f) and has dropped all it's leaves. The roots are good and I'm hoping for a basal growth. I call it my plant in ICU.

well, apparently everything i've received from this one vendor i'd managed to kill. I went on a phal killing spree a couple of months ago (they were pretty little and although they did ok for a few months, the moment it got colder started dropping like flies) and now apparently i've managed to rot my dendro (no idea how!). i've been one orchid killing machine this year!

Well, let me count the ways. All the usual methods -- overwatering, sunburning, neglect, failure to repot. I've killed a couple Mediocalcars by using tapwater, not filtered.

You've no idea, I no longer feel alone, when I read how you've kill off your orchids! I thought I was the only one doing silly things!

Don't worry, you are far from being the only one! Most people have killed at least one.

I forgot another I killed recently. I had this super cute mini den hybrid, that made really pretty flowers. It was my second favorite orchid. I had it over a year, and it was growing and blooming really well. Almost as soon as I moved to NL for school in august, the den went downhill very quickly. Nothing I did mattered, it died anyways a few weeks ago. I have no clue why. Now I need to find another one!

Let's see. Some I killed by watering too much. Then there were those that I watered too much. But most I killed because I watered them too much!!!
