Doritis in water culture, advice please!

There is only one comment that I could make about your experiment. If you are not already doing so, I would definitely use rain water and allow a little more air to the plant by eliminating the glass dome and replacing it with a plastic bag with several small holes. Air is primary to the plant's health.

So how's your doritis going? If it's fine then I'd think about putting my dehydrated P. bellina in water, I'm having a hard time keeping bellina alive. I killed 2 already, they seems to have limp leaves all the time.

Well I am new to water culture . So I started a Blc. Normans Bay back bulb division. It has 2 bulbs with leaves and no roots so I will see what happens rather than just throw it away.

Virgil-Good luck with your Blc Normans Bay. It is certainly worth a try in W/C.

Blackorchid-The doritis is growing rapidly. Just remember that with phals, you have to keep the water level low enough so that water doesn't wick up into the leaves, or else you have to constantly monitor it and get the water out of the center with a tissue or paper towel. Virgil you are really going to have to have patience with this one. It will first have to break a new growth and then grow new roots so this may take months.

I have had very good success with severing the rhizome beween the front growths and the backbulbs that I want to save, while the plant is still in the pot. Invariably you get a new lead and sometimes two. When it forms a root collar you can then re-pot and that is the perfect time to switch to S/H.
