What grocery store? When the shipping season is over and i'm having problems coping i pic up a Phal or Dend at walmart and the flowershop at Finch station carries whatever is in bloom. I got cymbs, miltonias, prostechea a couple of different things there and the prices are not to bad. Give them a good look over before buying. Some Sheridan nurseries are worth visiting too.

My favorite orchid supplier has actually moved up Burlington way... John had/has some of the best Phrags & Paphs IMO, as well as Disas, Jewels, some divisions, flasks, and assorted bits & pieces. He's added daylillies to the mix now too.

I haven't seen an orchid at my local grocery store in months. All I ever get to see there are groceries....the nerve!!!

I went in there to take a look. The flowers look great but the leaves are such a light green... like really light light green and some are bordering on yellow and they are potted in soil. I decided to pass, for $30 its not worth the headache of nursing them back to health for a year. I'll wait for the hort society meeting next week.

Awww...that's so frustrating when you find an orchid that you really want and it's in sad shape. I used to buy them anyway, but I've learned my lesson. It's not worth the money or the time to nurse it back to health and not have flowers for 5 years. Now if they were only $5 that would be a different story.
