HERE COMES THE COLD SO. FLA!!!! Male
Exclamation HERE COMES THE COLD SO. FLA!!!!

Anyone not in South Florida please excuse us, but we might make it down to 40 degrees tonight!!! Which for us might as well be a blizzard.

So anyway, are any of my neighbors out there taking evasive action like I am?

I brought every one of my orchids inside other than 1 phal that is in too big of a "housing" and my monster vanda.

Should I be this worried?
What are the temperature limits on orchids? (Or is that too broad of a question)?

I, personally would not be worried. 40s is not cold! Now if you want cold, come on up to Cadillac! We have minus colds here!

No! That's Linus, silly! It's still warmer here in my basement than it will be in your backyard. Ha!

Steve, with me being a bit north of you, our temps are supposed to drop in to the high 20s overnight tonight and tomorrow night!

We're in a Hard Freeze Watch so besides all the chids being tucked away nice and cozy, all the other plants and shrubs are wrapped up like mummies...the neighborhood looks like it's Halloween!

I only protect the chids when the temps are dropping below 50

Close, his friend was Linus!

I won't say anything about your 'cold' weather (it's around 40F over here these days, and we consider it warm winter weather ) but I know that I would never leave my phals out in that, I'm too overprotective of them. They can probably handle it, but just in case couldn't you wrap them up in something? I don't know what it's called in English, but here I wrap the less frost hardy plants in a thick white veil-like material that I bought at the garden center. Works pretty well.

'Hard Freeze Watch' and Florida are not words I generally associate in my mind! Is this cold weather something you get regularily in FL, or is this just a strange winter?
And it's funny to think that I have a friend living in LA who's complaining that it's too hot...

I just brought everyone in into the family room. It's crowded but everybody is going to spend the night in and probably tomorrow night too since it's supposed to drop to 39F. Should I be worrying so much ???
