Default What's with my dendro?

Hi! I got a nobile den last spring, it was growing ok, sprung some keikis (which i managed to kill after removing) grew for a while, then it was time for winter rest, so i stopped using fertilizer in the S/H. But now the canes are turning some strange ugly brown color that just doesn't look right. Is this from winter rest? or being too cold? or what?

Can't answer this, irrka but I'm bumping this thread, hoping someone who does know, will see this. I'm curious, what's happened here too.

I know that nobiles need good light while resting. Have these canes gone soft?

Well, it's in S/H, so i just cut out the fertilizer, which is the advice i got when i first bought the thing. The canes do feel softer in the brown areas than in the green. It's been sitting on the windowsill in southern window, but i did just move it further away from the window last week, just in case this turns out to be frostbite.

I hate to say it, but it looks to me like they're rotting. I got a Lycaste propagation from a raffle at my orchid society where the pseudobulbs had turned the same nasty brown colour and were a little mushy. I cut one open and the inside was totally rotted.

As far as treatment goes, I'm afraid I won't be of much help. All I did was cut the affected pseudobulbs (which was all of them) off and now I'm just praying for some growth from the shoot. Hopefully someone who knows a little more about this can be of more help... Until then, though, best of luck with your nobile.
