I have a Mtdm. Bartley Schwartz that I purhased last year in bloom. It is doing very well and grew 2 pseudobulbs over the summer; both are currently flowering; and fragrant in the afternoon . There are no flowers on the old growth that had the flowers last year. Do Mtdms only flower on new growth, or am I doing something wrong ? The old growth isn't shriveled or anything, it seems to be doing well.
In my experience, oncidium- type orchids bloom from the newest matured growth. The old pseudobulbs add extra water storage for the plants in case of a drought.
