Since orchids are usually in really draining medium, like bark, you can't overwater it in a single watering, unlike for plants in normal potting soil. Overwatering an orchid is done by watering too often (not leaving the medium time to dry), but not by giving too much at once. The exception is orchids growing in sphagnum moss, where the quantity of water per watering matters too.
When I water my orchids, I pour over half a liter of water per pot AND they sit in a bucket for 20 minutes to make sure the bark is fully wet. When I flush out the pots, I run a few liters of clean water through each pot.

It won't get rootrot as long as you let it dry out a bit afterwards. Root rot comes from sitting in water for days and days and days and having no ventilation and medium which is breaking down.

If on your next scheduled watering you just flush with out fert. you won't have to worry about overwatering.I usually flush mine on the first watering of the month.Hope this helps
