New bulb growth

Hello,

I have a question about propagating an oncidium orchid. The new bulb is growing off of the older bulb that grew a spike a couple of months ago. However, the bulb is growing somewhat sideways. The news bulb is has a spike groing out of it, and the spike already has a few small buds coming out.

My question is that is it okay to snap the new bulb off the old bulb and move it so that the plant can grow upwards?
