Repot Oncidium now or wait

My Oncidium is growing well. It has a second new pseudobulb starting. The first is well in the pot, but the second is hanging over. The pot is a little tight.
My question is, since it is growing, is it the right time to repot? I have heard from some here that the growing time is the time to repot. Does season matter? Or is the stage of growth the factor to consider in the timing of repotting?

What I have always heard is that the best time to repot is when the new pseudobulbs have roots just starting to grow (about 1-2 inches long).

However, I usually go by the overall condition of the plant...if I have root rot or something, I don't wait. It looks like yours is very healthy, though. I would wait until you have new root growth from the new pseudobulbs.

I've heard the same thing,but I usally repot when I feel it's needed. That's just me though.

Now is a good time to repot. Be sure to remove old rotten and dead roots before placing in new pot. Select a pot just next size up from current (usually an inch or 2 bigger - diameter). Be careful with watering while plant is getting acclimated. You don't want to rot the remaining roots. The new roots will emerge soon from the base of the new pseudobulbs. The old bulbs seldom grow new roots, however under best of conditions the old roots sometimes spring out with new rootlets. I use KLN rooting compound mixed as per labell when I repot. It gives a boost to the roots. Don't forget to soak the new bark overnight in plain water or water with KLN prior to repotting. That will help the bark absorb water in the future. I don't always do this myself.
