I just noticed this today and i was wondering if anyone can tell if its a flower spike or new growth.

Depends on what plant it is..... I take it that it is a Phal. we are looking at? I have Phal's that have spiked outside the fan.

Its a NOID strap leafed Paph or a Phrag. From what i understand they tend to bloom shortly after new growth begins. That means ... if this is new growth.... A FLOWER IS ON THE WAYYYYY. I rescued this one from a flower shop but the bloom had long since died so i dont know what it looks like. YAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!! She likes me

It looks like a strap leaf paph to me And new growth is always good
