My orchid is turning yellow! I just recently posted about receiving a new Winter Wonderland and asked how to care for it. I changed the fir bark to a medium grade so it wasn't retaining so much water. But all its new growth is dying, and all the old growth is almost already dead!

Ahhhh, you're both wrong. It's Degarmoara Winter Wonderland.

It likes fairly constant moisture (especially in a very open medium), bright, idirect light, and cool- to intermediate nighttime temps.

When you unpotted it, what was the condition of the roots?

Can you post a picture?

Help!! Demorgara
Default I have the same problem!

This sounds like the same problem I have been having, and was hoping to get ideas about. I've already lost two orchids recently because of this - they gradually turned yellow and died - and another (ascocenda) has been losing leaves steadily that turned yellow. I'm really worried it is going to die too! I don't know if my humidity has just been too low because I have the heat on in the house and perhaps I have not been dedicated enough with misting, or if we just aren't getting enough strong sun this time of year? I hope someone can help both of us!

new growth turning yellow sounds like rot to me....let it dry out more between watering...overwatering is the one sure way to kill an orchid....let it dry!

I don't think its over watered, Unless its still recovering from before I changed the medium and it was water logged?
For almost a full month I've had it sitting in a warm, and partial lighted corner to help it recover.

I'm fairly certain waterlogging is not the problem for any of mine. They're all in very well draining pots and medium. Also, it's not just the new growth turning yellow, it's all of it gradually. If I can attach a picture, I'll try to get a photo of one as an example.
