I have notice that buds will blast if a plant gets too dry when in bud. I find that a little extra water when in bloom adds to a little less stress on the plant.

Jerry, while I agree that being too dry will stress buds and blossoms, I would argue that if you need "extra" water during that time period, then you aren't watering enough when they're not in bloom!

Ray, I won't disagree with you. However, the pseudobulbs look nice and plump, especially the newer ones. The bud drop that I have experienced only seems to happen with some of the cattleya types and they look like healthy plants. I generally water about every five days in the summer and ever week to ten days in the winter, depending, of course, on the weather. My watering is geared to the Phalaenopsis. When they are approaching dryness, then everything else gets watered.
There is a couple of exceptions to include some very small or mounted plants and vanda types.

Must be nice to have humidity!! Even with my fogger going through gallons of RO water per day, I'm happy if my growing area stays above 60% during the day. With the new fogger, I always keep it over 50%, tho. Still, since I have potted most Catts in wooden slatted baskets with a good chunky Catt mix, they dry out rather quickly.
So, I end up watering about every third to fourth day during the winter. I can at least keep the temps to 60 to 65 at night and 75 to 80 during the day with our typically cool winters without really trying!!
