Wiping your orchid leaves with Orange juice? Female
Default Wiping orchid leaves w/ Orange juice?

I just read this and went to the grocery store and immediately bought a carton of 100% pure orange juice (with pulp).

so is this really a good thing to do? Does it need to be diluted? Maybe I should of got the no pulp oj ?

so what do you guys think? ?

lol ok this is what it says....
Tips on Phalaenopsis Husbandry
Monthly - Wipe both surfaces of the leaves with diluted juice (1 teaspoon orange juice mix with 1 cup of water). This helps removing the buildup of minerals deposit on leaves. The appearance of your plant will improve greatly with shiny leaves.

heres the link A Beginner Guide to Grow and to Flower The Moth Orchid

Why not? Lemon juice is a known and good leaf shine, so why not orange juice? Put a bit on a soft cloth and wipe down the leaves. Milk also works, as does applying a small dot of mayo and buffing it off.

ok ty i'll strain the pulp out first before i sponge bath them!
I have a feeling I'm not the only one here who thinks its ok to spoil your orchids!
just as long as you dont spoil them rotten...then that would be bad.

Yes, no spoiling the 'Chids rotten!

I am going to have to give some of these methods a try though.

If you do a search in OB, there are plenty of threads discussing leaf shining techniques
