orchids are hardy plants! A lot hardier than we give them credit for. Read like Sue says, take your time and be careful not to damage the roots and you'll do just fine!

I would say one of the biggies when repotting is to get all the bad roots. If you have roots rotting cut them, they dont provide anything to the plant. Be gentle with the roots, I like to use a spray bottle of water to get the old potting material out of tangles of roots. Try to find the natural habitat of the plant and see what it grows in/on, if it grows on trees then it probably needs lots of air to the roots so you may want to use bark

What if you worry so much for the what if's and the plant rot in the old pot and die?

as the others already said, dont worry too much... Orchids are very resistant (I mean, more than most people think!)... just go for it, re-pot your plant and you will see how easy it is, and how happy your plant will be after...

i doubt ur plant will die... so repot it... the problem is will it bloom? usually repotting will delay the blooming.. well depends!
