I have a phal that I saved in may last year. When I got it it was in bloom and when the blooms fell I cut the spike back to where it died to (I did this because my othe phal bloomed very strong afterwords). So now it's 6 months later and there is no sigh of growth on the spike (although leaves are still growing strong). Should I cut the spike or wait for it to flower or just wait.
It's really up to you. It can still send out more flowers or produce a keiki, but some people believe that takes away from the plants strength when producing a new spike and new flowers.
if the spike is still green and healthy, you can leave it...if it isnt, then cut it all the way at the bottom....you just have to keep giving it air light and water in the correct proportion and it will eventually flower again.....have you fed it?
If the plant is strong, I think you should just wait. I have a Phal that finished blooming in June from 3 spikes. I cut one entirely and left the other 2. Now itīs got a new spike and it will also produce flowers from the old spikes as well, at least from 3 nodes
