HELP! with rescuing a Paph. Male
Default HELP! with rescuing a Paph.

okay i received an almost dead paph. earlier this year in hopes of rescuing it. unfortunately it was and still is my first and only paph.
right now i have 2 separated growths " due to the main growth being completely dead. both are completely rootless. also on one of the growths a leaf is starting to brown at the very tip, i think it is due to water quality, any tips on increasing my water quality.
IS THERE ANY HOPE IN SAVING THEM

Some folks on here have had good results with live sphagnum. Search "sphag and bag". Otherwise, they can survive relatively rootless, but only as long as it takes to grow some more. Was it rooted when you got it? If it lost it's roots, they were too wet, or didn't get enough air. Either way, don't despair, I've had rootless divisions flower!

when i got it the roots were all rotten except one but it looked suspicious when i checked today so i snipped it just in case. what would you suggest using as growing medium " ive used bark mixes but i can never tell when to water it".

I'd cut off any dead and brown bits and spray with a fungicide. Then seen as though it has no roots pot into a small pot of sphagnum moss and keep humid. You may have to put in a mini plastic house set up. Keep moss just damp and new roots should form pretty quickly as long as you don't rot it any more.

thanks for all the advice , I put it into a plastic pot filled with moist sphagnum moss and put a plastic bag over the pot. About how long do you think it will take to start forming roots

If you are worried that your water quality is not helping it, you can try watering with rainwater or distilled water for a while. No fertilizer though, unless you have some for pure water. Adding fertilizer to pure water will do not so nice things.

hopefully they will survive , i will have to try my hand with purified water again " ive actually used fertilizer with it the first time didnt know any better, which may have lead to the lack of roots " once i get them into regular pots i will definitely put some sphag around the plant just to make sure they keep on growing new roots. THANKS FOR ALL OF THE ADVICE
