Default weirdest keiki

Hi guys! i have this keiki growing on top of my dendrophal hybrid. its a bit odd... well one root has grown but it aint growing leaves... it keeps on growing with leaves unfurl... so im guessing its a half keiki half spike? is it possible? any expert would tell me if this one is going to be a flower spike or a keiki?

I believe that's going to be a keiki. The growth you are seeing is how they build up their canes. Congrats, Mama!

Actually that looks more lika a spike to me. It's not too uncommon for dendrobiums to put out roots at the base of spikes (Dend. moniliforme does this all the time); the roots sometimes persist long after the spike has flowered, and you may eventually see a keiki develop at the base of the spike. Keep us posted as she progresses.

To me, it looks like a really long and strong keiki. Maybe it'll spike at the end?

They ARE cane-type plants, after all. I vote with the keiki folks.

I vote keiki, because of the root Becca noticed. Since we can't all agree, looks like we are all going to have to wait to find out!
