I've always rotated my African violets to get even growth. Do you do this with orchids as well? I read somewhere that it may make the flower buds twist, so I'm not sure what to do. In my window I have phals, some small catts, and some oncidiums.
As a brief answer, yes you can turn your orchids, even when they have spikes growing. However once the buds develop, they shouldn't be moved anymore or else the buds will not open in the same direction.

Good Morning,
I just posted the same question on the phal board this week. I received several responses, you may want to read. I actually wrote in because on of my phals had a new leaf that was growing out turned over or upside down. I turned it around in the window just a few days ago and the leaf is almost completely turned right side up. Check out my responses. Have a great day
but sometimes orchids doesnt produce nice display of flowers (as a whole) so in case ur planning to buy an orchid be sure to buy an orchid with pretty display of flowers! its useless if ur going to buy lots of young growth or large size flower but growing on zigzag or downward! i have an orchid like that no matter how i turn it gives a display of drooping infloresence. hmmm dats all!
