Maybe in a few decades (unless my orchid collection grows a LOT in the next few years
) I will run out of the synthetic orchid fertilizer that I bought for my chids. I'm interested in switching to organic fertilizer to reduce the environmental impact. I would switch immediately, but throwing out my synthetic stuff would be worse than using it up.
So two questions. 1. Does anyone have a particular organic fertilizer that they like and is reasonably priced and readily available (free, like things around the house, counts as reasonably priced!
)
2. My mother started a worm bin and along with the solid worm poop, which we use on outdoor plants and in our vegie garden, there is a liquid that collects in the bottom as well. I have seen "liquid worm poop" fertilizers in stores (like the ones in those recycled pop bottles). I have tried a low concentration of the liquid mixed in water from my worm bin on my paph and saw no harmful effects. I would like to use this if I can and was wondering if anyone knows how concentrated to mix it or if anyone can suggest a ratio.
