Default Bollea - a mystery

Bollea ecuadoriana is listed by a near-by greenhouse, Cal-Orchid of Santa Barbara, as an ideal beginner orchid, but I have been unable to find anything about its culture. I'm wondering if it is as simple as a name change. Does anyone know where I might find information on the genus?

I hope not. It's listed in Cal-Orchids as Bollea and a site in Europe shows the abbreviation as Bol for Bollea.
Thanks,

Bolleas have no water-storage capacity to speak of, so must be kept constantly moist, but that means you'll want a good, open, airy mix as well. (They thrive in S/H culture, if kept warm enough.)

Depau, I think Cullen meant that you have ecuadoriana spelled wrong, it should be spelled ecuadorana. I hope this helps, and if I were you I would buy it, it is such a beauty!

Thanks, Everyone, for replying. Sorry about the misspelled species. I do have a follow-up question. What does S/H mean? I hate being a total dummy, but I am so new to orchids I don't even know what questions to ask.
Thanks again.

Hey we are here to answer your questions! S/H stands for semi-hydro growing culture. We have a forum here on the OB dedicated to semi-hydro and Ray has a great website that you can check out and he will pretty much sum it all up for you. His website is: Welcome to First Rays Orchids

One way we learn is by asking questions! So ask away!

No worries Depau, I had to ask what S/H was when I joined too! We're all learning!
