Question Dendrobium Nobile Emperor Prince

Ok.... so this is a nobile den. I've been instructed to stop watering it and forget about it until it blooms.
That is what I have done. I havent watered it since last month.
One of the old canes though is yellow and mushy. The other older one (not as old as the yellow one) is wrinkly. And the new cane is loosing all its leaves.
Is this ok? What should I do about the mushy one? Does this plant look ok to you?
Any help is much appreciated.

hi
I am not an expert on dendrobiums & only have one (since august 2007)- I have not managed to reflower mine- in fact i have lots of keikies which are about 5" high- the mother is still struggling..

I believe your plant looks ok for now, you have plenty good roots on the latest growth - the 'oldest' growth the
yellow /mushy one, you probably need to cut it off...
I will be very interested to see what the dendro experts have to say.... Good luck!

Nobile Dends lose their leaves so don't worry about that. I suggest you use a clean razor blade and remove the mushy cane. try to cut well past the mushy part into healthy tissue and then put cinnamon on the cut to prevent bacteria or fungus infection either getting in or going further. It is true nobiles need several months of cool dry rest to bloom they also need high humidity during this time to prevent them completely drying up. Hope this helps

It depends. sometimes the mushy thing will just dry up if you leave it there. while some it will just burst out all the juice well if theres any foreign insects sucking might leak out and dats bad! i had experience on my first den. it happened to me as well... the juice just leaked out and the whole thing just went mad! for me ill use a fungicide alouette it will dry up by itself. i always water my dendro every morning but make sure it will get dry when it reach by night. For me theres no such thing as rest period LOL! well... your roots seems to be bothering me. try adding rooting hormone when you water your plants it will promote healthy roots. I hope you roots would grow longer and bigger. I have this dendro and the roots never grow longer it just went stagnant. so the plant remains like a hobbit! lol! i ended up putting him somewhere i couldnt see hopefully magic would come up but i doubt it! LOL!
