Very unusual but they both are beautiful. That Ascda is to die for. Marilyn

I too believe the color variation is due to the light intensity. The plant that I grew outside got full early morning sun for three hours and about three hours of late afternoon sun. That is at least seven thousand footcandles. The plant in the greenhouse received half that amount. It cannot be attributed to cool conditions because that is non existent in Florida during the summer.

I love to hear stories about people who make great plants from cuttings or pieces of their plants etc. Nice work.
Patience pays off !!!
And all three plants and photos are wonderful.

When you see it written that this plant quickly grows into a specimen they were not joking. The interesting thing is that the plant on the left spent outdoors from April to November. Notice how much darker it is than the one on the right that was greenhouse grown.

I will post another picture when the large plant is fully bloomed.

The plants are Bc Maikai 'Mayumi' HCC/AOS (C. bowringiana x B. Nodosa)
The third plant is Ascda. Princess Mikassa (no clonal name) that produced four spikes. Just posted it for fun.
Mine seems to respond on a daily basis to light levels. On a very bright sunny day it will be a pale purple and when I wake up in the morning, it will have a very deep purple hue. In your nursery do you give it more sunlight than the outdoor one? If you get the light and temperature levels right (dark for about 6 hours and about 65 degrees) it will smell amazing! I was a horrible orchid mom this year so I only have 12 blooms on a 6" potted plant. Happy orchiding!

Any differences in the feeding regimen? Seems to me an outdoor plant would get flushed by rain when the GH plant does not.

WOW! The one on the left sure grew quick from a single pseudobulb! It's hard to believe they are the same plant- the color is so much darker on the one on the left!!
