Default Vanda Crown rot

We have had incessant rain here for 2 or 3 weeks with only a brief respite for sunshine occasionally. It is the beginning of summer here, by the way....

I grow my Vandas outside and one of them has developed a yellow now "slimy" brown crown, which considering my research on the net seems to be crown rot. Any recommendations? By the way the plant has a great spike which should bloom any day now. The spike still looks great.

I had crown rot on a small vanda plant. I poured pure peroxide into the center. The plant is now recovering. Good luck.

pictures would help, can't say for sure what i would do without seeing it. but if you cut the top off of a vanda, it will branch off from a lower node.

Try tilting the vanda so that water doesn't remain in the crown.

Hydrogen peroxide is good, but you do need to dump the residual water after a few minutes.

Cinnamon powder is also an affective fungicide, and it helps dry the wound.

You really should do something to keep the rain out of the crown, though.

Whenever I see the start of crown rot, I dump in a few drops of hydrogen peroxide, let it sit for a few minutes then dump it out and sprinkle in some cinnamon. Make sure this plant's crown (and all others, actually) stays dry.

Like Cneos said, hang them on their sides so rain doesn't collect there and stay overnite.

Thanks for all the help. I know that h. peroxide has helped me with crown problems (such as Rhino beetle) with palms, so I will try this out.
