Hi Anne,

A Brassavola was my first non-Phal. They like the higher light, but are very drought tolerant and ok with lower humidity. Also, they hybridize with Cattleyas and Laelias to make some gorgeous flowers! Look up Brassocattleya (Bc.) and Brassolaelia (Bl.).

Hi, I'm from Sudbury, and it sure is difficult finding places to purchase orchids. I have mail-ordered from Cloud's and Paramount, but both stop shipping between Oct. and May. The last Orchid show of the year was last weekend in St Catherines. I think the next one is the RBG show in March. I've bought most of my orchids at the various Orchid Society Shows. You might want to consider joining one of Orchid Societies and make some contacts that way.
