Default Dendrobium

I just got a new plant with a tag that just says "dendrobium". There is nothing else to identify it. I know there seem to be "nobilius" and "non-nobilius varieties". How does one tell the two apart?
Thanks

Hi Fredch,

do you have a pic of the plant so that it would be easier for viewers to help identify the plant. Dendrobium nobile types look very different from evergreen Dendrobiums.
looking forward to seeing the photo.

cheers!

Fredch, its hard to say what type of dend you have purchased, but thought I would share this site with you and hopefully will help...scroll down to dendrobium

http://www.sdorchids.com/culture.htm

With dends there is such a huge variety well over 5, 000 species/hybrids and will be very hard to pinpoint exactly which one your growing. Suggestively, place of purchase might be able to share with you the vendor and contact them and see if they can help with a name. I am only guessing but if this purchase was from the big orange or blue building store odds are its a nobile, your not alone with this purchase.

Default Stems

How does one treat stalks after the blooms are gone? I leave my phals on until they turn brown, but I wonder about this dendrobium.
Thanks!
