Phal in fridge
Ok, so I have this phal, Summer Beach to be exact and it refuses to spike for me. I have read that they need a drop in temps for a few weeks to initiate a spike. Fine then. Its going in the fridge at night!!! For the next three weeks! Unless someone can talk me out of this. I'm sick of year end and year out with no spikes. (Insert sound of disgust here) I feed it, I breeze on it, I sun it, cajole it, beg it, wave chicken bones over it and still no spikes. I'm thinking fridge. What do you think???

I agree!
another method, put your plants next to a window, which you keep slightly open at night... that should help.. or next year, keep it outside until temps drop down to approx 60F at night...

unless you keep your fridge at, let's say, 60F I would not do it with a Phal...
if you want to be dramatic with your action, just put the plant outside, it will surely shows it its time to spike or die!! why wasting precious space in your fridgethat could actually be filled with great beer or white wine?

Maybe if you have a spare mini-fridge with nothing it you could set it to the warmest setting. That's the only way that i would consider such a thing. But i admit that I am by no means an expert on these things. That's why i ask lots of questions on this orchid board.
