I don't know where you live but I do know that no Phal environment goes to 45 degF perhaps except for very brief periods on rare occasions. You propose to place it at that temperature or lower for several days. Not good.
If you live other than the deep south, consider putting it outdoors or better, at a window that is allowed to be slightly cracked open at the bottom for a while during the winter. This way it will be cold at night but warm up during the day. Sort of like nature.

Out of curiosity - how long have you owned this non-bloomer in its current state and what part of the world do you live?

I stuck it in the fridge at 4:07 pm. No one played the "poor phal" card so I did it. It will stay in there until I awake in the morning. Rotton thing!! I will not tolerate disobediant orchids in my collection!! Especially the non-scented kind...Yes, I took a before picture and I will post that along with an after picture (a while after the treatment) so you can decide for yourselves if this is the "right" thing to do. I will keep you all posted on my "treatment" regimen.

Well putting it in the fridge is going to kill it.
Im sure there are more highly entertaining and amusing ways to kill a plant-

Its your call. Good luck

You want it to bloom...You don't want it to die...I have one Phal that almost died by it's own merit (ok, I had a leeeetle something to do with it). It's now got 7 big, firm leaves plus a huge basal growth, 2 plants now and both have yet to bloom also, going on 2 years now. Enjoy the beauty in your plant unbloomed until it's ready, not until you're ready. It doesn't work that way with orchids, unfortunately.

Or, you can stick some fake flowers in yours and pretend in the meantime. Or, maybe make a salad with what else you've got in the fridge.

What is wrong with trying to put it outside? The temps in Ohio aren't too cold yet are they? I grow my phal's indoors year round and just from the nightly indoor temperature drop I have no problem with getting spikes. What are your day time temps and night time temps you are growing it in? I keep the house around 68 to 70 degrees during the day and at night the temps are around 60. Have you tried a temperature drop like this inside? Please don't put it into the fridge, or maybe I should be begging you to take it out. You know what Ross does with non performers....he gives them to others (like me...lol) for torture...lol! Perhaps it isn't getting enough light or something...please give it another chance!

Ok....is that enough "poor phal" begging for you to bring it out of the deadly fridge?

I'm sorry. I made the mistake of taking your question seriously. My original answer WAS serious. The refrigerator is likely to kill your plant. Tell it goodbye.

I've read that using chilled water when watering can simulate cooler weather. Maybe less of a shock than putting the whole plant in the reefer.
