The cinnamon will dry it out and prevent anything new from entering the wound.
Hi JennS,

May I know do we need to make a cinnamon paste to seal the treated area or just pour the cinnamon powder on it?

As the cut surface of the leaf will be damp, the cinnamon powder will adhere well enough.

Hi Ray,

Thanks for your advice.

I got another question. When we prepare a cinnamon spray as fungus prevention, why we need to mix the cinnamon powder in "hot" water and let stand for several days? Can we just mix it with water of just up to about 30 C and use it immediately after mixing without filtering?

Thanks.

Dear all,

Just a quick update on the "health" status of my little Princess Kaiulani. I left the mentioned problem leave as it is after cutting off the infected brown section and sealed with cinnamon. The plant seems adapting well so far. Can someone help to advise if the new growth as shown are roots or spikes? Sorry for the poor image quality.

Thanks a lot...

It appears to me that these new growths are roots as the tips are rounded looking. A flower spike would look "pointier." The roots look very healthy.

You can buy the slatted orchid pots from Roberts Flower Supply in Ohio.

Those look like roots to me as well. The colouring looks silvery with a green tip which would indicate roots.

Thanks for the confirmation. I have to patiently wait for the real spike then....
