Angry Icky Mold!!

Mold! Great gobs of fluffy white mold on the soil in my plants and on the bark in my orchids! Not on the plants themselves, just on the bark and soil? Is this going to hurt the orchids and how do I get rid of this stuff? Its really, really gross.

There have been several discussions here lately on this topic. Alcohol (rubbing or denatured) will kill it. Also you can use Listerine which is high in alcohol.

I use an eye dropper with the alc full strength. Try not to get it on the roots directly (so I have heard). I have drizzled it on the roots with no effect. Try to aim just for the mold.

Thank you Ross. I am new to orchids but not to plants in general. I have some alcohol I will put on the revolting stuff tonight. Thank you for your answer. It is good to have the voice of wisdom around.

Thank you Gin as well. I will definately add a fan to my growing area. I just grow them in the motorhome with me and they get the same environment I do but now they will also have a fan.
