Hi All,
This dend' has bloomed for a while now. This was also a very early image, that shows half of the orchid.
But,
The flowers are slowly starting to wilt.
My Q:
Do I cut each one off and place cinnamon over the cut?
and
When the flowers have finally gone, do I cut those flower spikes (that's what there called, right?) off as close to the cane as possible, or do I just leave them?
I'm not an expert (maybe some of them will chime in) but on my orchids I just cut off the spike when it is finished with blooming. They look unsightly all naked and sticking up there...Then again, I'm a bit of a fanatic when it comes to the "look" of my orchids. No marred foliage and definately no naked spikes.
magicatt,
I could have so much fun with your naked spikes remark..... but I won't. Thanks for the reply.
brooke, thank you also for responding.
I'm very new to all of this, but am enjoying it.
I'll see how the next few flowers look (for how long) and see if I can hold off cutting them or letting mother nature do her thing.
I wouldn't want magicatt, to come on over and start running around with a pair of scissors.
