hi frostedeyes!! i collect philippine native paphiopedilums, as of now i have 6 species...i bought them here in davao for 250 pesos a pot, i have 2 philippinense, 2 randsii, many ciliolare, 2 haynaldianum, 2 hennisianum and 2 adductum. im so fascinated by them that im making my own fieldguide/ book about them and how they grow.. check out my blog for the plants pics... and i got hooked on them when i saw a paph ciliolare bloom during the kadayawan festival here..check out my gallery for the pic.

growing them requires a lot of care and patience, the potting mix should be well draining but can retain a lot of moisture, i use a combination of medium sized charcoal with a bit of coconut husk chips, coco coir and organic orchid fertilizer compost... i dont overwater them cause it may cause root rot, i usually water them every three days, making sure that the roots are somewhat dry in between waterings....they are not heavy feeders so a very week solution of fertilizer or organic fertilizer is added once a week, i use all organic ones...
