Birthday present! What is it?

My sweet, wonderful husband came home today with a giant beauty of a dendrobium! I was thrilled, but it didn't come with a tag. Anyone have any idea what kind of dendrobium it could be?

What you have there is commonly known as a 'Hard Cane Dendrobium"
There plants like it very warm to hot, lots of light & high humidity. If its too cold, the plant will still grow but the canes will gradually get shorter and the plant will eventually run out of steam. Large fluctuations in temperature will also cause the flower buds to drop very quickly. Pot size isn't a great issue but they do like lots of water & food when in active growth which under good conditions is 'all the time'

i think it is a dendrobium phaleanopsis.
its one of the evergreen types
don,t know the cultivar name though.

I agree with snow about the Den phalaenopsis (now bigibbum), but likely a hybrid of it, not the species.

I still prefer calling them Den. Phalaenopsis, Can be difficult to grow if you don't have the right conditions
If you have cold conditions in winter you might have to knit it a jersy

I've never seen one in real life but from these pictures the name Den. Phalaenopsis seems a good one and I think I prefer it.

I can see from the first photo that the buds look like Den. buds. But the flowers in the second picture look like Phal flowers.

I have heard of Den. Phalaenopsis in the past and when I first saw these photos I would have guessed that was what it was.
