I am a 68 year old retired physician. At a seniors' class a master gardener casually described her growing of orchids. My wife and I had recently downsized to a condominium apartment. We were blessed with a true East exposure. I went to an orchid show in Washington DC and came back with a couple of orchids, only one of which was appropriate for the conditions. It has done marvelously and a real ego booster (Oncidium Twinkle)
I then joined the local orchid group and subscribed to this board. I now have about 25 orchids (I'm afraid to count) and am trying to grow some that challenge in-house growers especially in the northeast.
I've been at it for about 2 years.
