Default Question on Humidity

I have a question on humidity. Everything I have read says to increase humidity as the temp rises and to decrease as temp falls. But here (Hawaii) I grow outside in a shade house and it is just the opposit at night the temp falls and the humidity goes up by 20% every night and the plants are just fine. Can any harm come of this trend? I just got a weather station with a remote temp/hydrometer so I have been monitoring it for the past 2 weeks. Do I have anything to worry about?

your plants should be fine outside even if the humidity is higher because it is couled with air movement
the advice you are refering to is usually for indoor adn green house growers who lack the natural flow of air you have
your plants should not have any problems with the humidity

This is actually what happens. "Humidity" is really "relative humidity". As temps go down (given a constant source of moisture) relative humidity must go up. I think there is way to much worry here about humidity. Certainly a wet grower like the Dracs will not fair well in a desert climate like Tucson without humidity control, but for most of us, indoors or even outdoors growing should be fine. Certainly greenhouse growing should be great.

This year in the southeast US we had a really hot summer.* As usual the humiidity was high, so I misted almost daily.* Thise plants I brought indoors were supplemeted with an ultrasonic humidifier.* I worried a lot, but had no issues.* Your climate in HI is much more conducive.* PS:* I think the misting benefited me as much as the 'chids!

Ok thanks for all the answers I feel much better. Now another Question as you all know we have a active volcano here on Hawaii Island and we have a very low ph in the rain 5.2-6.0 'Acid Rain" should I flush my plants after a say 1/4 or more of rain to bring up the ph? I know that orchids like it on the acidic side but is this a problem in the long run? Some of the farmers on the South and East side of the Island have had a problem with H2S killing more delicate plants but that is not a problem here on the West side due to the trade winds.

Oh by the way I am using a mix of Chipped Coconut Husks, Sponge Rock and Black Cinders for potting.
