Default Fertilizer in Canada

Hello all!

I have difficulties to find Canadian online store who could sell good fertilizer. The only one I found sell Dyna-Gro Orchid Pro Fertilizer 7-8-6. Is this ok?

Thank you,

Michel

I have heard many good things about Dyna-gro from other hobby and commercial growers, so I've switched over to Dyna-gro fertilizer and the silicone compound this year and my plants seem to enjoy it.

The name escapes me at the moment, as I don't have it in front of me in the office. I think it's called Pro-Tekt?

Michel,

Dyna-Gro Grow 7-9-5 is a good complete fertilizer for orchids - mostly urea-free nitrogen source, contains all trace elements, and it has calcium/magnesium if you have particularly soft water. You can find it at a variety of places, but here are two that I've purchased from:

Paramount Orchids:Main

Bustan - Toronto Hydroponics Grow Lights Nutrients Hydroponic Supplies Canada

It's also available at most any hydroponics store in urban centres.

About two years ago I switched to MSU-type fertilizer in dry powdered form. I find it cheaper than liquid concentrate fertilizers in the long run. I haven't yet found a Canadian source for it but there are several US sources that ship to Canada without any fuss. It's also almost always available at orchid society meetings.
