Default Dendrobium Speciosum with green stuff on sphagnum moss

Good afternoon all. Can someone tell me if this will hurt my orchid? I dont know if the green stuff is algae or mold and if I should worry about it. If it is harmful can I use something like Ortho Disease control? Thank you very much.

That's normal algae growth, and it won't cause harm to your orchids. All my orchids in sphagnum moss within a few weeks of repotting have all exposed sphagnum green from algae. Here's a picture of my Phalaenopsis bellina where you can see the algae growth.

Unlike phalaenopsis, Dendrobium speciosum appreciate a drying out between waterings so wait until the moss is nearly crispy before watering again.

If you're getting good algae growth, you might think about reducing the watering - that spagnum looks a bit to compact and soppy.
